Eragon follows a young farm boy, Eragon, who discovers a mysterious blue stone in the forest that turns out to be a dragon egg. When the dragon, Saphira, hatches, Eragon is thrust into a dangerous world of magic, destiny, and rebellion. As one of the last Dragon Riders, Eragon is trained by the storyteller Brom and learns about the tyrannical rule of King Galbatorix over the land of Alagaësia. After tragedy strikes his home, Eragon sets out on a journey seeking vengeance and justice, while growing into his role as a Rider. Along the way, he faces powerful enemies, uncovers ancient secrets, and allies with rebels known as the Varden. The story explores themes of courage, friendship, responsibility, and the struggle between good and evil as Eragon begins his transformation from a simple boy into a hero.
